Spaced repetition, free and unlimited
A free spaced-repetition app that schedules cards for just before you forget them
Lernoa's study engine uses an SM-2-style scheduler with Anki-style learning steps, four rating buttons, and adaptive card retirement, so your review time goes exactly where it is needed. Free and unlimited, whatever your cards.
How the scheduler works
A new card moves through short learning steps measured in minutes. Once it graduates, it enters review scheduling measured in days, where each rating changes both the next interval and an ease factor that keeps compounding as you keep recalling the card correctly.
Again
You forgot it. The card resets into a short relearning step and comes back soon.
Hard
You struggled. The next interval grows only a little, keeping the card in closer rotation.
Good
You recalled it correctly. The interval grows by your ease factor, spacing it further out.
Easy
It was trivial. The interval jumps further still, with a bonus on top of Good.
Adaptive card retirement
A card you keep recalling correctly at a long interval eventually retires from your daily queue entirely, instead of resurfacing forever on a fixed schedule. Your review time stays concentrated on cards that are still shaky, not ones you have clearly mastered. Mastered cards can always be brought back into rotation if you want to double-check yourself before an exam.
Four study styles, or fully custom
Relaxed
10 new cards and up to 120 reviews a day, with slightly gentler intervals. Good for a light course load.
Standard
20 new cards and up to 200 reviews a day, using Lernoa's default scheduling. The setting most people keep.
Intense
40 new cards and up to 400 reviews a day, with faster-growing intervals for heavier study loads.
Cram
80 new cards and up to 800 reviews a day, with shorter learning steps and a lower interval ceiling, for exam week.
Prefer to hand-tune it? Advanced mode exposes every scheduler setting, from learning steps to the mastery threshold, so power users can match it to how they actually study.
Frequently asked questions
What spaced-repetition algorithm does Lernoa use?
An SM-2-style scheduler with Anki-style learning steps: new cards move through short learning steps in minutes before graduating into day-scale review intervals that grow by an easiness factor each time you recall a card correctly.
What do the four rating buttons do?
Again resets a card into a short relearning step; Hard grows the interval only slightly; Good grows it by the card's ease factor; Easy grows it further still with a bonus. Ratings, not a fixed calendar, drive when a card comes back.
What is adaptive card retirement?
A card you keep recalling correctly at a long interval (by default 210 days, after at least 4 successful reviews) is marked mastered and leaves the daily queue entirely, so your review time stays on the cards that still need it. You can bring a mastered card back into rotation any time.
Can I change how the scheduler behaves?
Yes. Pick a named study style (Relaxed, Standard, Intense or Cram) to change your daily new-card and review caps and the pace intervals grow at, or fine-tune individual scheduler settings yourself in Advanced mode.
Is the spaced-repetition engine really free and unlimited?
Yes. Unlimited decks and cards, every study mode, cross-device sync, progress stats and the full scheduler are free forever, whether your cards were typed by hand, imported from Anki or CSV, or generated with AI. Credits only pay for AI generation itself.
How is this different from Anki?
The underlying idea is the same evidence-based approach behind Anki: intervals that grow as you prove you remember something. Lernoa adds AI flashcard and course generation, audio narration, and cloud sync out of the box, with no local collection to manage.
